Stop Guessing and Start Winning: The 10 Keys To Business Growth

Victoria:

Hello everyone, and welcome to the Boca Movers and Shakers Podcast! Here we go…

The 10 Weekly Power Principles of Movers & Shakers

The 10 Essential Areas Necessary To Grow Your Boca Based Business

1️⃣ Power Principle 1: Weekly Shout Outs

Let’s kick off our Weekly Shout-Outs by recognizing Family owned and operated, The Boca Raton Tribune boasts an array of columnists and writers all who have deep ties to the city. Since its inception in 2010, The Boca Raton Tribune has always prided itself in being 100 percent community oriented with news that matters to the residents of Boca Raton. Go check them out at bocaratontribune.com

2️⃣ Power Principle 2: How To Attract New Customers
Let’s dig into ways you can attract new customers.

  • Collaboration can be a game-changer. Team up with complementary businesses in Boca to cross-promote each other. For example, if you’re a fitness studio, partner with a local juice bar or health store to create joint promotions.
  • Think about hosting or sponsoring local events together to increase visibility while creating goodwill in the community.
  • You can reach out to me as well to discuss cross promotional opportunities with the Show. Here’s how you can reach us: moshake.com/partners

3️⃣ Power Principle 3: How To Retain Customers & Increase Customer LTV

Next and equally important is getting the customers you acquire to come back.

  • One way is by Creating a Loyalty Program. Reward repeat customers with points, discounts, or perks. For instance, a ‘Buy 10, Get 1 Free’ program for a restaurant or a points-based system for retail stores works wonders for encouraging repeat visits. The key is to make the program simple and rewarding enough to keep customers engaged.
  • Black Card VIP. As luck would have it, I’ve arranged for listeners to get free access to a step by step guide to help you implement your very own VIP Black Card Program. Here’s the link Victoria mentioned in the show: [link]

4️⃣ Power Principle 4: Conquering Customer Service

No matter what you sell or the service you provide, your business can really set itself apart by providing great Customer Service. So how do you do that?

One of the most important things is to Respond Quickly. In today’s fast-paced world, customers expect quick responses. Whether it’s replying to emails, answering phone calls, or responding to online reviews, speed matters. If you can’t resolve an issue immediately, let the customer know you’re working on it and provide regular updates.

As Eric Herman from Big Ideas AI, a Boca Resident, tells me “his business is implementing AI voice agents and personal assistants that are beginning to replace customer service staff.” I’ve heard some of them myself and I must say I’m quite impressed.

Besides not getting sick and asking for a raise, they’re trained on the entire business information repository. They never miss a beat, are always friendly, work 24 hours a day and can handle up to 10 calls simultaneously.

For those Interested, here’s a link to Eric’s company, (bigideasaiinc.com) just tell him that Victoria Hayes referred you.

5️⃣ Power Principle 5: Time and Task Management

Mastering time and task management is an important skill most business owners never master. So let’s get crack a lacking on this right here and now.

Time Block Your Schedule.Time blocking is a game-changer for productivity. Dedicate specific blocks of time to specific tasks, like responding to emails, planning your marketing, or meeting with your team. Be disciplined during these blocks—avoid distractions and stay focused on the task at hand. I’ll have the team drop some Time Blocking resources for you in the show notes, so go check them out.

6️⃣ Power Principle 6: Staffing and Scheduling

Another key to business growth is staffing and scheduling. There are a ton of tools and apps to help Optimize Your Schedule.

Use scheduling tools to streamline your team’s work schedule. These tools allow employees to view their shifts, request time off, and swap shifts easily, reducing scheduling conflicts.

  • Scheduling tools:
    • When I Work
    • Homebase
    • Shiftboard

You can also use the tool we use, Clickup to schedule and assign tasks to staff. We also use Trello for assigning projects to staff and though, not scheduling tools, we communicate through Discord and a dedicated Slack channel.

One other thing I recommend is embedding your calendar on your website. We sync our Calendars to our google workspace. When people schedule on our calendars, the time is automatically blocked off. We also use AI automation workflows to move opportunities through a structured pipeline.

Lastly, plan your schedule around peak times for your business. For example, if you’re a restaurant owner, make sure you have extra staff during lunch and dinner rushes.

7️⃣ Power Principle 7: Cashflow and Credit

Today’s 7th Key to business growth is Cash Flow and Credit. The topic I’d like to discuss with you today is Controlling Expenses.
  • Regularly audit your expenses to identify areas where you can cut costs. For example, are you paying for software or subscriptions you no longer use?
  • Are there more cost-effective suppliers you could partner with?

Small adjustments can add up to significant savings over time. I suggest reviewing your online banking transactions and credit card transactions to eliminate, refund or question charges you don’t recognize.

You have up to 180 days to dispute a credit card transaction, but your dispute window is limited to 60 days for an ACH transaction. Ask for clarification as well. Many times the transaction description is truncated and that makes it hard to decipher what the charge is for.

8️⃣ Power Principle 8: Banking and Borrowing

Banking and Borrowing are the cornerstone of a growing business. It’s important to establish and maintain a Strong Banking Relationship.

Building a good relationship with your bank can open doors to better loan terms, faster approvals, and more flexible solutions.

Keep your accounts in good standing, meet with your banker regularly, and communicate openly about your business needs and goals.

The chamber of commerce and other local business events are often well represented by local branch managers and credit officers. Get to know them and encourage them to get to know you and where your business is going.

9️⃣ Power Principle 9: Technology

Let’s talk tech. I alluled to this a bit earlier in the show, Streamlining Scheduling and Appointments. Let’s take a closer look. There are independent online scheduling tools like:
  • Calendly
  • Acuity Scheduling
  • Booksy.

These tools let customers book directly online and automatically sync with your calendar.

Automated reminders reduce no-shows and free up time for you and your staff. But today you’ll need a calendar booking to do more. People don’t always show for appointments and need reminding. Even that, falls a little short today. Workflow automation for appointment bookings, reminders and follow up all go hand in hand these days.

One of the Podcast sponsors has a low cost workflow automation option exclusively for Movers and Shakers listeners. Here’s the link to it [LINK]

🔟 Power Principle 10: AI & Automation

AI and Automation is the 10th key to business growth. I kind of mixed them together in the last segment, Tech Talk. I tend to do that from time to time. I just want to reiterate how important Ai automation is to your future success. Soon, it’s going to be very hard to keep up if you’re not jumping on the AI automation band wagon.
